I had a pair of these smaller dressers. They had a hard
glossy white finish that was in pretty good shape that I was going to work with. The drawers however had gold detailing around the edge that I was going to change.

PAINTING BEDROOM FURNITURE - using annie sloan chalk paint
It took my husband some time before he
agreed to let me paint our dark wood
bedroom furniture. Like most new
couples we went out and purchased an
expensive set of matching furniture as
our first thing together. I quickly found
it difficult to decorate in the style that
made me happy when all the furniture
was so dark and heavy.

We had a yard sale to clear out some extra furniture pieces. A few
kind people sent photos to us showing the
makeovers they performed on the treasured pieces they found.

I've used a lot of power drivers in my time
but the one I use now has been my favorite
for years. I first saw it in the hands of an
electrician and immediately asked about it.

FIXING SPLIT WOOD PANEL - white dresser with india knobs
I felt compelled to save this dresser
when I came across it at a yard sale.
The lady who owned it had bought it
to refinish and was told the split side
panel was an easy fix. Once she got it
home she realized this was NOT A
SIMPLE FIX.
The two panels had to be leveled and lined up, glue
applied, and clamped together.
Inside I used a couple of broken metal hinges to stabilize the
fix. The hinges are not the solution to holding the
panels together, but they will hold everything in place while
the glue sets.
Once everything was fixed she got painted in a creamy white
ASCP, and new India bone knobs added. I found the six of
them at my local HomeSense. The plates you see behind the
knobs are antique metal pieces also painted in the same
creamy white ASCP then wet distressed.

Everything was lightly edged distressed and the three
drawers were lined with a floral black and white wallpaper.

COOKIES AND CREAM - numbered chest
I'm working on several new furniture pieces for the upcoming Christmas Craft & Gift show,
and this numbered chest is one of them.
I have nicknamed it the COOKIES & CREAM CHEST because of the colors used.
The dark top and trim is a rich chocolate color.

After the hustle and bustle of working with my Chair for Charity, getting it to the photographer early, and George's accident and ER visit, I have finally finished one of the dressers I previously started. Isn't this color amazing, the knobs made me do it! I have been wanting to show you how far Annie Sloan Chalk Paint can really go.

BRITISH SUBWAY ART - british dresser
This dresser couldn't get more British unless it was still in the UK.
Yes, it originally came from England, and now it has the British Flag pattern painted
on the face, and it even has British subway art topping it off.
The original cherry cordial finish was in pretty good condition
and it's so unique I wanted to work with it.
The bright white stripping of the Union jack
flag pop incredibly on this deep Burgundy color.
The original top had a large sun stain where a doily sat
so the plan was hatched to cover it up.
There is over 40 different British destinations listed in the subway art,
even a misspelling. It's not an obvious one and
you can't see it in the photos here so stop looking for it.
The answer to the question of how long did it take you ...
