I'd like to share the work I've been doing on our front porch. Normally friends and family might get to see the results first but these days the only audience available to share with is on-line. #stayhome

RE-USING VINTAGE PICTURE FRAMES - chalk paint and seashells

I'm working on a new wall display in another part of our home and that got me thinking that I had not properly shared a unique gallery wall display I had done several years ago.

HORSE MAKEOVER - snowy white

I first saw Snowy at a vintage market and it was love at first sight. He had two missing ears, a tail that was falling off, a bad paint job, and a cracked leg. I turned to GG and said "he needs me"

PLATE WALL DISPLAY - shabby chic style

"BUY IT WHEN YOU SEE IT BECAUSE YOU LOVE IT"

I have always found the key to
creating successful & wonderful
wall displays has always been to use
the things I love and have collected
over time. But more importantly
when I want to get to work building
display I look for items that have
been stored out of sight and out of
mind, like these plates stacked in a
pile in the back of a cupboard.

REPURPOSING AN OLD SPOON RACK - with krylon spray paint

I was tasked with repurposing several thrifted items, including an old spoon rack. I thought this should be a fun DIY project. I have seen more than enough of them sitting on thrift store shelves so I figured start with some Krylon paint and see what happens.

OUR FRENCH COUNTRY BEDROOM - wall hooks

Sometimes I look at other blogs and
see photos of beautiful homes that
make me question if they are real
or not. I wonder how could I ever
achieve that. The finishes cost a
fortune and my fortune is dedicated
to more personal things like groceries.

DARK WAXING WITH STEEL WOOL VIDEO - AS Graphite Paint

Black paint finishes are tricky and hard to make look right, and I don't work with Annie Sloan's Graphite paint all that often but when I do I have a tried and tested method to get that great finish that I want.

I have finished two short videos to share with you
of me using dark wax on Annie Sloan Graphite Paint and
using fine steel wool to apply it.

If you have trouble viewing these videos try using an alternative browser such as CHROME.

HAPPY DARK WAXING!

STEEL WOOL has  been used by wood workers for decades.
FINE steel wool is used for buffing & cleaning, shellac,
lacquer & varnishes (use with wax or oil)

UNION JACK CHAIR - painted upholstery

It has been quite awhile since I last saw my Silver Union Jack chair I created for a charity
auction. A local business owner bought it for her hubby, and at a decent price for the charity.
Lucky me I have wrangled a visit several hours away to seeing the chair again in it's new home.
