CHRISTMAS CONSOLE TABLE DECOR - gold and white

Yesterday I shared all the photos of our front entry all decked out for the Christmas season. Today I wanted to share how I created the look.
CHRISTMAS ENTRY IN WHITE & GOLD - pillar candles & polar bears
The first week of December is here and the first room is decked out in our holiday decor.
LUXURIOUS BEDDING - french country bedroom
I easily can admit I have an obsession with bed linens. I want to change them at least once a week to enjoy the crisp clean feeling when I get into bed at night. I have even converted the man of the house to want to change the bed just as often.
HOW TO PAINT A SOFA TABLE - driftwood grey and antiqued white
This console was painted in layers. The focus was to play with the paint finish and I had a fun time doing it, mostly. Finding the right balance of color to enhance shape and techniques to achieve age is a job in it's self. Let me share some details with you ....
SECRET GARDEN PARTY FOR 2 - the set up
For my sister's birthday this year I hosted a special luncheon just for the two of us. Last year I spent my summer creating this space and sharing it with you, now it is time to use it.
DIY FRENCH HEADBOARD - combining items
Every now and then I get an itch, a nagging desire to change something in the house. I start to focus on it, maybe something isn't working right for us or the look of something is bothering me. GG has even given it a name ...
"AWEFULIZING" The wheels start to turn in my head, and
over the years he has learned to recognize it. As soon as he
sees it, he tells me to stop awfulizing. The truth is if I didn't
awfulize over it I would not be able to create. It's part of my
process, it's the main component to how I do what it is I do.
Now that brings me to our headboard. I always wanted a
tufted headboard, one stop into Sleep Country way back
when and I bought one. We both like it but it also lacked my
personal touch or something unique to us, which has
always bothered me.

STOP AND SMELL THE FLOWERS
I have been playing with some photographs and a new bunch of flower.

The ins and outs of my boho gallery wall. Can you guess what unconventional items I used?
OUR FRENCH COUNTRY BEDROOM - curtains & chandelier
Happy Mother's Day to all you wonderful woman who inspire,
nurture, and go way beyond.
Today is the day you should do NOTHING. Rest, relax, rejuvenate, and relinquish the
reigns to someone else today
and see if the world does explode.

A LITTLE CHANDELIER & SHABBY CHIC SWITCH PLATES
This light fixture in our entry looks great
now, but it took a long time figuring out how to
get it to look decent. I had tried many different fixtures but nothing
worked until I thought outside of the box.

VINTAGE SHOPPING IN FREDERICTON - savour decor
Even when I'm on vacation I can't seem to stop surrounding myself with chipped paint, rusty metal, vintage wood, sparkling crystals, and white painted furniture.
Surprise, surprise!!!
SILVERED AND WEATHERED CONSOLE TABLE - layering paint

MY BEDROOM PROJECT - shabby chic decorating
A JOB WELL DONE.
I've hung the chandelier, arranged the furniture, laid the carpets, and decorated the walls. I think our bedroom is almost done.
THIS LITTLE PINKY - pink chandelier
I've been able to get a few projects underway around here just for us.
70% of our Christmas decorations put away, only because I'm doing a full re-organizing of them all.
We've had our first big snow fall Saturday, more on Monday and still more forecasted this week.
Not typical for a Vancouver winter.
I did take advantage of the pristine white snow when photographing this daring
chandelier I just finished.
Just last week it was warm enough to spray paint outside and have it dry in 10 minutes.
I only do chandeliers every now and then because they
Someone did try to DIY this one before I got it but they must have lost steam.
I used a soft pretty pink spray paint from Krylon.
The 5 light arms are lined with several meters of garland beads secured with nylon line.
I added the metal crown feature at the top stolen from my electrical parts department.
** Parts Department = Rubbermaid bin sitting on the shelf **
The hanging beads and flower embellishments I used on this chandelier
were all purchased at Michaels for a pretty penny.
But I had a goal and I'm extremely pleased with the finished look.
The flowers are a translucent acrylic material.
Hand made in Thailand, each petal is stitched around a center crystal.
They are extremely cool.

PEARLS FOR A CHANDELIER - chandelier beading tips
This time around I'm using pearls to bead a chandelier.
I want to drape it with tonnes of beads and in the hopes it looks stunning but you
won't find it finished here. I've only been working on it a couple hours and they
take a long time to finish.
I want to offer some tips as I know one or two of you want to try this yourselves.
Organize your beads, these little suckers like to bounce all over the place.
Anticipate if one slips out of your fingers where will it fall to.
I use a shaggy rug underneath to catch them rather then listening to beads
bounce their way under the furniture or down the hall for George's feet
to find in the dark of night on his way to the bathroom.
Keep track of how many of each you have so you're not short before you string that last bead.
Trial and error I figure out the look I want by holding different patterns of
strung beads up to the chandelier before finally committing and tieing it off.
I have a hook in the ceiling where I hang my chandelier to work on.
I use a long piece of chain so I can sit in my office chair while working
at a comfortable height.
The chandelier can be raised up when I'm not working on it.
When ever I have some spare time in the evening I can sit
down string some more beads while listening to what ever
George has decided to watch on TV.
I also have a hook out side where I can hang the chandelier
to be painted.
Heads up for all those local followers and subscribers
George has decided this Saturday we are having a
His 2 daughters are coming to visit soon and we need to lighten the load around here.
I still have quite a bit of *stuff* hanging around from years ago
that needs a new home as well as time to clear out many
furniture pieces that I'm never going to get to.
I'll post more about it over the next days.
