PAINTING BEDROOM FURNITURE - using annie sloan chalk paint

It took my husband some time before he
agreed to let me paint our dark wood
bedroom furniture. Like most new
couples we went out and purchased an
expensive set of matching furniture as
our first thing together. I quickly found
it difficult to decorate in the style that
made me happy when all the furniture
was so dark and heavy.

OUR FRENCH COUNTRY BEDROOM - wall hooks

Sometimes I look at other blogs and
see photos of beautiful homes that
make me question if they are real
or not. I wonder how could I ever
achieve that. The finishes cost a
fortune and my fortune is dedicated
to more personal things like groceries.

Happy Mother's Day to all you wonderful woman who inspire,
nurture, and go way beyond.
Today is the day you should do NOTHING. Rest, relax, rejuvenate, and relinquish the
reigns to someone else today
and see if the world does explode.

GREEK BLUE and COLOR LAYERS - blue bedside cabinet

With the summer weather being so
nice the bug has hit me to start a
million different projects and not
finish any of them. The rest of the
year I'm quite focused and I don't
start one thing with out the last
being wrapped up and ready to go.
Well I am pleased to let you know
one has been finished and it's cute
as a button.

ONLY ONE COAT OF PAINT - french nightstands

So many of the furniture finishes I am drawn to are very European feeling. The paint I used to create these nightstands was created in Europe.

WE NEED A GUEST ROOM - room makeover

I took our front entry and transformed it into a pretty and comfortable guest bedroom.

Guests are due to arrive soon and the temporary bedroom make-over is complete.
We hope the family enjoys it. Come on in and get the 50 cent tour.

I built a custom sized bed because the room isn't big enough. We chose to used the Queen size
BYOB mattress (camping air mattress) because it would be flexible with the fit.
I built a raised platform underneath so the girl's have tonnes of room to hide their luggage.
There is also extra foam and padding between the wood platform and the air mattress.

I hope they have some great night's of sleep, cause George plans to run them ragged.
Me thinks he forgets he's dealing with a 4 year old.

This is a 136" x 69" room, that's just over 11 feet long by a little under 6 feet wide.

ST. PATTIES DAY - green inspiration pictorial

St. Patrick’s Day is observed on March 17
because that is the feast day of St. Patrick,
the patron saint of Ireland. It is believed that he
died on March 17 in the year 461 AD.

In Ireland on St. Patrick’s Day,
people traditionally wear a small bunch of
shamrocks on their jackets or caps. Children wear
orange, white and green badges, and women and
girls wear green ribbons in their hair.

A leprechaun is a type of fairy in Irish folklore,
usually taking the form of an old man, clad in a red
or green coat, who enjoys partaking in mischief.

The Leprechauns spend all their time busily making
shoes, and store away all their coins in a hidden pot
of gold at the end of the rainbow. If ever captured
by a human, the Leprechaun has the magical power
to grant three wishes in exchange for their release.

In the color spectrum of the rainbow,
green is a second-order color formed from the
mixing of yellow and blue.

In feng shui green means balance
which inturn brings harmony.

It is versatile and it isn't gender specific
until we choose it to be.

We can find green just about
 anywhere we look,

Green apples

Green glass
Green limes

Green beds

 Green curtains

Green walls

Green shades

Green chairs

Green doors

My favorite green will always be *HOME*
