FIXING A BAD PAINT JOB - terrible turquoise cabinet
I am writing this article to give hope to those who have a lovely pieces of furniture that ended up with an awful paint job and I hope to offer some guidance to those who don't have experience painting furniture.
GREY AND WHITE DRESSERS - faux weathered boards
I had a pair of these smaller dressers. They had a hard
glossy white finish that was in pretty good shape that I was going to work with. The drawers however had gold detailing around the edge that I was going to change.
BIG LEGS ADDED TO A SIDEBOARD - woodworking
While working outside in the warmth of the summer's sun I took several photos to show how a frame would need to be built to install a set of legs on a buffet. I had imagined these big carved legs added to this cabinet, just like the picture. I had the legs in a crate in my back room but I would need to see how the cabinet was built before I knew if I could make it a reality.

It is always tricky to pick new hardware for a painted furniture project. You have to consider the style you trying to create. A size that will look good, and a color that will tell the new story.

I had 2 old pine night stands that were very
similar and I wanted to make them into a pair.
The bottom front kick on one had a wavy cut
design like this one above. The other was a
straight board with no shape.

So many of the furniture finishes I am drawn to are very European feeling. The paint I used to create these nightstands was created in Europe.
TIFFANY BLUE NIGHTSTAND
My Tiffany Blue is AS Provence mixed with Old White.
Once upon a time I found these curly legs at a yard sale. They were all by their lonesome
sitting a top a pile of junk. The aren't really legs they are called harp arms and held a mirror
on top of a dresser long ago. They are made of solid wood and perfect for lifting this small cabinet.
The nightstand is Canadian Made solid maple.
I found a door at the Restore. They have tons of doors with all the measurements handy so I went
prepared with my numbers and found one the exact size I needed. The hole was already in the door
for the knob so I went with the placement. I know it is off from where we are use to seeing it
but I like it there.

I hand painted all the trim detail with AS Old White and distressed all the edges.
The knobs are amazing, the centers are crystal rhinestones and the gold and blue pedals are metal.

I get asked all the time where to find furniture
legs. Unfortunately the
answer to that question isn't as simple as the question.
ENJOYING PINTEREST - oak bedside drawers
Looking through Pinterest for inspiration and seeing my own photos pop up is a blast,
but I think I enjoy reading the comments added to my pictures even more.
It helps me focus on what extra information folks might be looking for.
This image of our bedside nightstands is a big hit over at Pinterest.
One comment added to the photo reads ...
"I would love to do that with a nightstand I have,
but it would have to have some really strong support; it is heavy!
Also, I think it would be too tall to use comfortably."
I've just finished 2 similar bedside drawers this past week and I'll tell you they are both very heavy.
The legs used to raise them up are secured with glue and screws and if your install is thought
out and executed well there would be no issue.

Remember I use vintage pieces to build with
so typically made of hardwood these legs have been around for years already and are still going strong.
The particular legs I used for my bedside drawers were taken from elaborate dining chairs,
I personally like to have my bedsides surfaces higher than my mattress.
The legs below are shorter and are both different lengths,
so there are options as to how tall you lift your nightstands.
