WRAPPING STATION

I bet a wrapping station would come in pretty handy this time of year

but I have never had one to be sure. I have however, made one!

 

 

A good friend had asked for one a while back and I eventually got all the pieces I needed

and started building. The base was a reclaimed radio cabinet for the 50's and the top portion

was a corner display cabinet with doors. 

 

I had to greatly alter the corner unit out of the picture and make it flat backed,

but the lower cabinet seemed to have so many spots that would work well for a wrapping station.

 

 

Rolls of paper on the left, bows in a drawer on the right.

A waste basket to catch the trimmings in the center.

 

The trickiest part was creating the paper roll holders, that would work. I used a jigsaw and a drill, a

knife and a chisel and pretty much anything else that help me make these rod slots.

 

If you decide to try your hand at making a wrapping station keep in mind the width you will need for

your wrapping paper rolls. Some can be pretty long so measure your rolls before you start.

THE PORCELAIN & BRASS CHINA CABINET

 

 

I see nice china cabinets that I want to paint all the time but moving them and finding the extra space

 for them is horrible in our small quarters. This one came on a sunny day so I start to work on it

outside. A friend had been trying to fill a dining room nook and this turned out to be the right piece.

 It's made of oak and has some of the coolest details. I took off 3 doors from the top and repurposed

 them into kitchen signs.

 

 

I sprayed the rest of the cabinet in ASCP Old White and added a black and white wallpaper interior.

 

 

The aged oak did lovely things to the paint color and I get a nice shine when I buffed the wax.  

 

 

 

 

Each section of the backer boards were different pieces of hard board, so I remove the finishing nails

 holding each in place and wallpapered them one at a time. Much easier than one large piece.

The porcelain and brass knobs and handles are original but some parts were missing.

When I took the doors off the top I was able to steal 2 of the porcelain knobs for the bottom.

 

 

 

I'd like to do more china cabinets but we'll have to see how much space is available this winter.

Let the bells ring out and the banners fly.

I've had an extreme makeover and I'm looking marvelous.

We had a long road together getting each element finished just right.

Sometimes I just didn't understand her vision and wouldn't cooperate with what she wanted.

It was a vision of beauty.

I hear that next time she's gonna show more pictures

of how we created this look together.

SLEEPING BEAUTY - art deco china cabinet

AURORA

I received an email from a local follower Victoria, asking if I

 wanted a couple of furniture odds and ends she had. Nothing major

 but things I could store and use in the future when necessity called.

 While visiting and talking with Victoria this art deco china cabinet

 came up. She had bought it with great intentions but before

 commencing on the revamping task she came across a second

cabinet that matched her needs better. So it was now up for sale.

Please meet Aurora!

Yes, I named her after sleeping beauty.

Aurora's jewelry looked like that of a night owl's big saucer eyes,

 so it was time to get to working on a new look for this princess

She got a bath, and a new pair of shoes.

A tiara,

and a matching necklace,

She got a new dress

with all the pretty bouquets of flowers

her eyes started to lit up with excitement because

Aurora has even found her prince charming

 in JACK.
