A LITTLE CUT HERE AND A LITTLE CUT THERE.
Turning a desk into a set of Farmhouse
nightstands isn't as hard as it sounds.
Remove the top by unscrewing from underneath.
Below you can see where the screws were.
Next step is the dreaded sawing in half.
In this case it was only 4 cuts to the top front & back boards.
The photo below shows in red where the cuts were made.
The green circle are where the desk is doweled together and
easily separate once the top boards were cut.
Once in two parts I filled the holes made from
the separation with, sawdust, glue, and wood filler.

Then I painted the cabinets in AS Old white
before starting to build new rustic wood tops.
Below you can see close up shots of the tops I built.
The finished surface was white washed then clear waxed.
The hardware I used was silver mercury glass knobs
and some heavy decorative drawer handles
