Three inches to a night stands that is.
We all love the miss matched styling of shabby chic decor but most of us also
like to have a matched set of tables for our bedside.
Most vintage night stands are just too darn short for our current fat and luxurious mattress'.
So that's where I step in and raise them up.
This pair of solid wood carved night stands started at 24 inches tall before
I installed a vintage set of casters, lifting them 1.5"
and a solid frame added under the top to raise them another 1.5".
Here they are on there way to be sprayed in ASCP Old White, before a coat of ASCP clear wax
then Minwax dark to accent all the detailing of these pieces.
Originally there were no handles on the doors, I have no idea how someone would ever
get the cupboard doors open with out taking the drawer out first and reaching inside.
Maybe thats why they were stored away in a shed and not used.
A side by side before and after pic can be seen here.

Wow, these are beautiful and you did a great job making them fit our modern bed height. I would love for you to share theses at Restyled Sundays.
ReplyDeleteI love them. I'm very interested to know how you were able to figure out that someone had flagged you on craigslist. Were you able to reverse it or fix the problem? Thanks. I wonder if that's happening to me as well. Thanks for your advice.
ReplyDeleteWe noticed after posting an ad that we were not getting any emails regarding the item. So then you try searching your item on CL as a buyer and can`t find it.
DeleteThere is not much you can do if someone starts to flag your ads. CL has an open policy that anyone can flag ads and as often as they like.
You are supposed to receive an email saying your ad has been removed but I don’t get them so I have to continually check my ads all day long.
There is also software ppl can use to flag ads continually. Competitors use it for obvious reasons. Others use it to get a better deal on an item they want.
They contact the seller before flagging the ad then when the seller gets no other interest they bargain for a better price.
Some use it on the free ad section to get things to resell.
There is no solution we have found thus far other than reposting.
There is also something call Ghosted ads, these just don`t show up yet your account says they are active.
To learn more you can find many articles on line about the issue.
Always double check your ad from a buyers perspective
How pretty!
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great week.
Those are just gorgeous! Awesome job! Perhaps you should try kijiji.com
ReplyDeleteThese are absolutely beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful pieces. Love them. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteThanks for the fantastic idea! I have a nightstand I need to raise - never thought of the top for the extra bit!!
ReplyDeleteThose are great, no wonder they were snapped up fast. Sorry you are still having Cl troubles. Wish I had some wise tip to make it stop.
ReplyDelete~Bliss~
Your CL troubles are messed up! I love all your projects...they're so creative!
ReplyDeleteWOW! I am impressed, by George. Those are just fabulous and I can see why someone snapped them right up! WOW! xo Diana
ReplyDeleteHow did they get those things open? Maybe that is where the stuff they didn't want anyone to know about was stored. Love the little antique casters.
ReplyDeleteRe CL flagging, yuk! So sorry, we had this happening again and again at my store where I sell my pieces. Craig's list was actually very helpful in resolving it and they were even able to trace it back to one single computer and send the flagger a warning! It hasn't happened since. If you haven't contacted CL and complained, I would ASAP. There is good reason to be able to flag things, but it is also abused, and this hurts business for everyone. This person has some bad Karma coming to them. Feel sorry for them, their life sucks.
I LOVE how you added extra height to these pieces - I never would have thought of it. For the added height at the top of the piece, did you just add 4 pieces around the perimeter of the piece or is that one solid piece? I've learned so many great things from your blog - it's one of my favorites! (I'm just a DIY'er for my own home because I like pretty things but my budget doesn't ;o]).
ReplyDeleteThey are gorgeous and a great tip for height
ReplyDeleteCan you tell me how you know if you're flagged on CL and what that means exactly?
I seem to be in a slump with both CL and Kijiji and couldn't figure it out -
Please help!!!!!
Thanks
Hugs,
Suzan
I had a flagging problem on CL one time also. I started reading the discussion boards there and the advice was to put contact info on an image and load it as if it were a picture. That way it can't be picked up by bots or a software program. But I totally agree with the poster above who said to contact CL. They can find out who is doing it, and if it is harassment, they will deal with it.
ReplyDeleteP.S. I wanted to say how much I like these pieces at their new height and look.
ReplyDeleteWhy do things have to be so hard and people do such awful things??? I hate that you are having issues with CL cuz of someone...the pieces are great~as usual.!
ReplyDeleteWow, these are beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteYou are so creative,always!!
I'm sorry to hear you have a problem with CL, I actually saw your posting once and opened it,then it said "it's been flagged".
It happened to me once( I mean it was removed) but it was because I posted too often and I thought that was your case too....But by someone else???It really sukcs!!Someone must be jealous of your talent...
I hope you'll have it resolved soon...
