RECYCLED FURNITURE APPLIQUES

Want cheaper options to add appliques to your next painting projects?

Old plastic garden fence makes for great appliques on painted
projects. I've cut mine apart with a jig saw and pre-drilled
tiny holes in each to attached them to these drawers with
finishing nails.

Here is a look at another item that I have recycled into
furniture appliques. These plastic wall plaques from the
seventies can also be cut up and re-used.

Using plastic for appliques is not new, many vintage pieces
of furniture came from the manufacturer with plastic
embellishments on the front of them, like these 2
examples.

Sometimes these pieces of furniture are wrecked by water
damage but the ornate plastic bits can be pried off and reused
like I did for a pair of my bedside cabinets. This ornate detail
shown below was one of 2 matching piece I removed off a
 destroyed armoire found roadside.
