HOW TO GET DARK DISTRESSING UNDER WHITE - tutorial

See how I get a dark distressed look
on light colored furniture

I had 4 wood chairs that were plain wood with no color
or stain. I wanted to paint them and end up with white
distressed paint over a dark color and I wanted to do it
quickly. This is how I did it in 1 day.

My secret was to use a flat oil based spray on the areas that I
want to distress. The flat paint dries quickly so it doesn't add
too much extra waiting time, and the oil based paint won't
sand off as easily when I distress the top coat of Annie Sloan
 Chalk Paint.

NOT RECOMMENDED WITH A GLOSSY SPRAY PAINT

Once the brown was dry I sprayed the chairs in a creamy
white Annie Sloan Pure White & Old White mix, using

The edges and details were all distressed by sanding with 220
and finally all the chairs were waxed and polished.

I hope this gives you some
great ideas to try on your own!

This is the same technique I used on this red
dresser shown below, and numbered bar stool.
