CREATING HIS AND HERS BEDSIDE TABLES - using appliques

I wanted to share the secret of how I brought two different pieces of furniture together to feel like the same style using embellishments.

BEFORE                        AFTER

This mismatched pair of bedside tables started as two
 different pieces with similar style.
They ended up looking like a matched set.

The embellishments I used to create the look were solid brass
and came from a broken mirror frame that I cut up.

First I removed the front bottom pieces of each nightstand
and installed new bigger ones as well as new legs.

I put the scrolled parts on the new wood creating a design I liked.
Then with a pencil I traced out an area I wanted cut away.

I used a jigsaw to cut and I hand sanded the edges smooth.

Because these embellishments are made of metal
I had to pre-drill for nails.

I brought them together using the same legs, the same
embellishments and in the end the same vintage hardware pulls.
