TRADITIONAL to GLAMOROUS - buffet painted black

When I was originally asked to paint this big boy I turned Diana down because the measurements were too big for my work space.

A week later she tried again after finding out he wasn't quite as big as thought and I couldn't help but agree to go see the lovely piece.

My love affair started as I turned the corner into the dining area of her beautiful house.
There he sat in an alcove, most of us would believe had been built just for him.

He had seen a long life with layers upon layers of wax built up on all surfaces.
A black marker was used to cover all the tiny drops of white paint that had no doubtedly
fallen during some reno job in one of his former homes.

He was missing a door pull and some of his hardware just didn't working right.
He came to stay with us for almost 3 weeks.
The first week was spend just cleaning and sanding.

I rumaged thru the antique store to find a new handle and I tweeked
the drawer glides so that everything worked again.

Eventually it was time to send him home, if just to get our own kitchen back.
