Well someone did it!

The challenge was set at the moment I saw these photos
of the damage that the bed had received.

Once we picked it up it was quickly apparent the damage was even worse then the photos showed. There were several gapping holes thru both the headboard and footboard.
Also many deeply carved chucks missing on most of the sides and top edges.
However it was still solid and standing on all 4 legs.
I wasn't sure what I was going to do or even where to start, but as always it just happens
suddenly. The ideas flow and the jazz starts and before I knew it the bed was reborn.
